MACHINING INSPECTOR - Permanent - Aberdeenshire

Role: Machining Inspector

Location: Kintore, Aberdeen

Industry: Precision Engineering, Oil and Gas

Salary: £32,000-£36,000

This is an excellent opportunity for an established engineering professional with a background in Machining and Inspection to secure a key role within this prominent business.

You will be tasked with producing quality precision machined parts and with checking components against relevant documented specifications whilst providing a balance between cost-effectiveness and quality control.

Job Duties

• Interpret engineering drawings for manufacturing components and evaluate inspection measurements in accordance with applicable specifications, or procedures.
• Assist the continued development of the inspection process, methodology and equipment.
• Determine most effective (Cost, risk and benefit) methodology for inspection of parts
• Interpret the results of all methods of inspection
• Make recommendations for acceptance or otherwise of parts based on inspection results
• Review nonconforming product and determine and take the most appropriate action
• Liaise with Machine Centre Cell Leader for daily workload requirements.
• Support wider inspection function, by carrying out inspection duties when business
• Prepare inspection reports requirements dictate.

Background Requirement

• Ability to use, read internal, external, bore and stick micrometers, vernier callipers, height gauge, Plug and ring gauges, etc.
• Quality Management system awareness
• Examination of forgings (and other wrought materials) and castings
• Valid Overhead Crane License
• Able to operate manual inspection equipment and techniques within a precision/oil and gas manufacturing environment
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
