Finance Business Partner - Logistics & Packaging

A unique and interesting position has become available for an experienced and commercially focused professional to join our Financial Management team within the Procurement and Logistics Division in a newly created role.

Reporting to the Procurement & Logistics Division Finance Manager you will be working alongside the business to develop and deliver financial planning, analysis and budgeting for the Logistics functions. You will challenge the ways of working, drive forward process improvements and inform strategic decision making at a senior management level. You will also be responsible for all investment and cost management processes which underpin the successful delivery of the just-in-time supply chain model.

Job Purpose and responsibilities:

1) Establishing the new role within a fast-paced and challenging Logistics function which will require strong stakeholder management skills, resilience and the desire to challenge the status quo.

2) Financial planning for the logistics function including the creation and delivery of comprehensive budgets, forecasts and 5-year investment plans for operations and projects.

3) Building robust business cases for new model projects, business improvement ideas and infrastructure projects and delivering them for approval to the investment committee. Also support with creation of post completion audits on key projects to demonstrate delivered benefits against plan.

4) Work with the operational managers to challenge, manage and report on the operational overheads across the logistics and packaging cost centres including identifying further risks and opportunities for management and control.

5) Working closely with the teams to develop and deliver planning support for all key activities together with value adding and insightful analysis on key short and long term business issues.

6) Acting as a resource and focal point for the teams to direct and give advice on all financial issues and be willing to support ad-hoc across the Logistics management team.

7) Working in partnership with the operational management team, act as the financial lead at the monthly review with the 3rd party service provider, Honda Logistics, including creation and monitoring of KPIs, monitoring of spend v plan and supporting resolution of issues.

8) Working alongside the financial planning function to understand month end variances, communicating financial results to the business, fix counter measures for business concerns, agree accrual/prepayments, provisions for business risks, supporting at year end and liaising with auditors.

Required skills and experience:

  • Qualified ACCA / CIMA / ICAEW.
  • Business partnering experience in challenging environments / industries.
  • Drive and ambition to create and develop a new role.
  • Demonstrate experience and knowledge of developing and delivering process improvements.
  • Influencing and managing people of all levels in a constructive way.
  • Experienced & confident communicator including presenting to both small & large audiences.
  • Experienced in building complex models using MS Excel and presentations in MS Powerpoint.

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Background in manufacturing and / or supply chain.
  • Experience of project accounting.
