T1 Automotive Experience

My client is a leading Global T1 Automotive Manufacturer Manufacturers operating in 11 EU countries with over 30 plants.

They are looking for a Procurement Director to lead procurement activity on a regional basis driving cost efficiency reviews in terms of savings, quality, supplier rationalization and terms. Leading the team of 7 you are responsible for inspiring and leading the team within the UK.

Duties:

  • Drive cost efficiency reviews for the region in-line with defined goals & objectives in the area of cost savings, quality, supplier rationalization, BCC & supplier payment terms;
  • Manage & develop the regional team
  • Control and approve all program procurement activities & decisions in line with customer demands and commodity strategies within the region;
  • Develop and maintain key internal and external relationships to ensure proactive cost efficiency reviews are maintained and ensure consistency and competitive sources of supply within the specific region.
  • Ensure compliance across procurement functions and suppliers adhere to ethical standards and customer expectations
  • Manage and develop teams within the dedicated region of Europe functions to consolidate issues and improve overall KPI's
  • Actively scrutinise and manage the departments goals and objectives in line with company vision
  • Engage in Management meetings and regional events
  • Alignment with other regional procurement leads to ensure consistent Commodity Strategies & Program Handling

Responsibilities

  • The identification of potential suppliers world-wide and the evaluation of existing suppliers from the supplier pool during the preliminary stage of new operative and strategic programs in order to guarantee the availability of an optimal supplier network in terms of quality and cost for meeting specific customers' demands
  • The guaranteed compliance with the company's quality and efficiency/cost standards on the part of the potential and actual suppliers in co-operation with Engineering & Quality
  • The acquisition of requisite goods (materials, services, machines, tools, systems and buildings), as well as the co-ordination of the plant purchasers to ensure the economic cost and smooth development of the engineering projects and production programs
  • Initiate and collaborate on the development of improved cost-effective programs, e.g. VA/VE in co-operation positions

  • Is responsible for business planning, as well as exploiting the controlling tools to ensure the achievement of plans and objectives
  • Professional employee guidance and promotion within the subordinate structure to guarantee employee motivation and self-reliance as well as the achievement of the purchasing goals
  • The review and design of the subordinate structure organization and processes for guaranteeing optimal internal and external customer-oriented development and interfacing, while allowing employees independent areas of competence
  • The successful implementation of strategies, specifications and guidelines in the area of purchasing, as well as ensuring that the plants are equipped with the resources and skills required for task fulfilment
  • Logistic management and support in the BU plants to optimize logistic costs and supply/JIT capacity

Preferred Experience

  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the customer and within the company.
  • Adaptability in the location of work including business travel
  • Flexibility to change priorities in response to changing programme demands
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain or Business
  • Master's degree in business is beneficial
  • Deep analytical skills
  • Technical skills in engineering finance & supply chain
  • Ability to identify creative solutions in a complex environment
  • Six Sigma mindset and approach to solving problems preferable
  • 10 - 15 years purchasing management
  • Minimum 5 years international automotive background
