My Bristol based client is a market leading manufacturer of special purpose machinery used in both the automotive and aeronautical industries. Their products are manufactured on site in Bristol and are distributed worldwide, with their main markets being the UK, Europe, USA, China and Mexico.

As a global automated machinery provider who mainly operate in the automotive, aerospace

and manufacturing industries, my client has a unique opportunity for an experienced Engineering Manager to effectively lead the engineering capability, provide and develop sufficient engineering resource to efficiently deliver company requirements and deliver on time, on budget, fit for purpose engineering solutions and advice to the company.

The Position

Due to continued and future growth with my client's company, we are looking for an experienced engineering manager to join the team and take on the challenge of keeping the company on track with delivery of customer orders and engineering resource.

The Successful Candidate Will:

• Manage a team of mechanical engineers and electrical controls engineers.
• Understand customer requirements through to detailed design, approval and sign off.
• Project planning and on-time delivery of engineering tasks.
• Production support and problem solving to overcome any build problem encountered.
• Process development and improvement.
• Detailed planning of new projects and reporting against project milestones.
• Definition and writing of machine technical documentation including Operation Manual, Maintenance Manual and Test procedures.
• Definition and introduction of configuration management and change control processes into engineering department to ensure accurate records of delivered equipment are maintained, CE and ISO9000 requirements adhered to.
• Customer and supplier liaison.
• Staff development and training plans implemented.

Requirements

• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• Good management of both mechanical and controls staff
• Passion and competence in advanced engineering and technology
• A positive attitude with high level of commitment to challenges
• The desire to meet time and budget targets and customer quality expectations.
• Problem solving and coaching
• Knowledge and appreciation of PLC & HMI programs would be an advantage
• Experience in 2D & 3D CAD
• IT literate

Qualifications

HNC / HND qualified in mechanical / mechatronics engineering
