Profile

Our client is a global defence and aerospace contractor who supply sophisticated technological solutions worldwide. Over the last decade they have grown both organically and via acquisition and look to increase their technical resource to accommodate future expansion plans.

Purpose

The Technician will be working within the Operations department and the main purpose of the role will be to act as a technical lead/authority on the compliance of product to specification and troubleshooting to determine root causes where problems exist.

Duties

  • Testing and checking company products and paperwork to the required specifications. Where non conformities are found it will be the technicians responsibility to carry out diagnostic testing and determine root cause to identify the necessary corrective action.
  • Act as the cell link into both the quality and engineering teams within the company.
  • Act as technical leads and ensure compliance across the cell/team and mentor staff where appropriate in order to continuously improve technical output from the team/cell.
  • Demonstrate sound technical leadership
  • Work with suppliers to ensure the correct delivery of requirements

To work with the team and alongside the team leader to act as the main technical point of contact for the cell

To guide and coach members of the cell to ensure that all cell production meets the required technical standards in terms of quality and functionality

Experience and Qualifications

  • IPC Certified
  • Thorough knowledge of continuous improvement methods, in particular 'lean'
  • Engineering qualification (NVQ/C&G/ONC)
  • Broad based cell experience (an understanding of the range and complexity of the products that the cell produces)
  • Previous experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Previous experience in an electronics and/or PCB and/or harness manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communications skills
