Salary: circa £28,000-£33,000

My client, a large manufacturer is currently looking for a Craft Technician to join them on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for ensuring that the required level of output is achieved in line with the master production schedule and quality standards, through the appropriate allocation of daily tasks and maximisation of machine up time.

Craft Technicians will be working on a 'three shift' shift pattern: 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm & 10pm-6am

Remuneration package includes: competitive salary, over-time, 20 days' annual leave (increasing to 25 days' holiday after 12 months service plus incremental increase with years' service and for zero absences) in addition to bank holidays, excellent defined contribution pension scheme and Healthshield cashback scheme.

Responsibilities:

  • Setting, checking and calibration of all gauging equipment within the cell.
  • Start-up, re setting, running and shutdown of all machines in a cell, including fixtures, tooling (including ordering) and all work handling equipment
  • Training of operators within a cell and ensuring sign-off against training plans.
  • Allocation of daily tasks to operators within a cell to ensure output targets are achieved in line with quality and health and safety standards.
  • Ensuring effective day by day communication to all operators within a cell with regard to output targets, performance, achievement against MOP's, and issues affecting quality.
  • Generation, collation and publication of MOP's data.
  • Quality of parts processed by ensuring that quality procedures are adhered to, and any quality problems are identified and reacted to promptly.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of process improvement activities, including process control, scrap reduction and TQ activity.
  • Ensuring effective material flow including the receipt, handling, storage and delivery of all materials to and from, and within a cell.
  • Ensuring first line maintenance of all plant and machinery within a cell (including coolants and filtration).

Experience:

  • Recognised apprenticeship or similar technical qualification
  • Motivated team player, committed to total quality
  • Experience in similar high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Experience of calibration, setting and testing gauging equipment
  • Experience of using micrometers
