Technology and Process Engineering Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen with my client. They are a successful manufacturing company that are offering a stable and lucrative career in their business. They require a Technology and Process Engineering Manager, to manage a small technical team, looking at how they can implement and improve new technologies.

We are looking for a Technology and Process Engineering Manager who ideally has the following skills:

Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement Manufacturing improvement strategies and technology development projects for both Medical Devices and Coatings
  • Programming ABB robots
  • Project Management of new technology and process introduction from concept to stable operation
  • Perform process validation / verification (& computer systems validation if appropriate) including process characterisation, optimisation & capability studies as required
  • Baseline process capability assessment
  • Assist with CAPA/NCR investigations to improve efficiency of manufacturing processes by analysing non-conforming product issues, proposing and supporting countermeasures
  • Resolving technical issues within the Manufacturing Department
  • Documentation & Training
  • Assist in the training of manufacturing personnel
  • Lean Manufacturing - analyse production processes and propose/implement improvements to reduce lead time, reduce cost, improve efficiency along with DFM and DFA input
  • To ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the Company and legislative requirements for Health & Safety

Person Specification

1. Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

  • Engineering qualification; preferably time served apprenticeship
  • Project Management experience
  • Programming and interfacing with Robotics - ABB
  • Expertise in using a variety of manual and CNC tools (desirable)
  • CAM (Specifically Siemens NX Unigraphics and Edgecam are desirable)
  • Quality Techniques
  • Assembly and Fitting
  • Process validation/verification & process capability assessment
  • Lean manufacturing
  • Mechanical & Production engineering
  • Compiling and using process FMEA's
  • Statistical analysis
  • Project and time management
  • CAD - tool/gauge/jig/fixture design
  • Manual and CMM inspection
  • Application of machine tool probing systems
  • PC literacy, including specific knowledge of Microsoft products
  • People Management

  • Medical devices manufacturing (desirable)
  • Orthopaedics manufacturing (desirable)
  • Process engineering background (desirable)
  • Plasma Coatings knowledge (desirable)
  • Safety critical applications (desirable)
  • Programming and interfacing with Robotics - ABB (desirable)
