Production Manager
An exciting opportunity has arisen with my client. They are a successful Engineering company that are offering a stable and lucrative career in their business. They require a Production Manager to oversee all production operations within the business.
We are looking for a Production Manager who ideally has the following skills and experience:
Primary Role
- Effectively and efficiently manage the production of the required targets in line with customer specifications, meeting delivery and quality expectations. Minimising costs where possible and ensure best practices are maintained at all times.
- Key involvement in pre-production stage, to ensure the schedule is always achievable
- Implement and control the production schedule to ensure all production processes run reliably and efficiently meeting customer requirements
- Manage and lead the team ensuring sufficient resource levels, managing annual leave, recruitment, training, development, appraisal, attendance, disciplinary issues to maximise efficient productivity
- Update the production plan on a daily basis
- Constant communication with the Account Manager on all customer and order related queries
- Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
- Manage stock levels to ensure availability of materials
- Manage the repair and routine maintenance of all production equipment
- Drive 5S activities throughout production
- Carry out daily production meeting, to ensure plan adherence, obtain feedback of actual progress and communication of company's key performance indicators (KPIs)
Secondary Role
- Develop, implement and manage KPIs for each area of responsibility
- Work with Engineering Manager to, optimise efficient production methods, address any productivity issues to ensure sufficient specification and guidance is supplied to production
- Ensure all of production functions operate in accordance with Health & Safety and Quality policies along with any other company procedures
- Determine, implement and monitor improvements to the production system
- Develop, implement and lead continuous improvement activities
Pre-requisites
- Experience of production management in a manufacturing environment
- Excellent communication, organisational, management and leadership skills
- Must develop team structure and skills to support company's goals and targets
- Strong decision-making skills and results driven approach
- Ability to work in high pressure environment and to deadline
The required standard of performance will be attained when:
- Business grows in line with company objectives
- On time delivery of 90% + is achieved
- Efficiencies are achieved to increase margin
- Shop floor employees are adequately supervised, and they work productively and safely at all times
