Production Engineer

Cheltenham

12 month FTC/Contract

My client is designs and manufactures of specialist equipment and is a solutions provider for people or organisations which require complex care. Their products are primarily focused on washing, bathing, changing and handling solutions that directly improve people's lives. They have recently developed a hygienic handle solution to help companies get back to work after C19. They have been established for over 25 years but are now heavily investing in their future as we look to expand.

Due to recent successful projects and company expansion a new long-term contract position has become available for a Production Engineer to join our production team based near Cheltenham.

Main responsibilities of job

To identify and champion continuous improvement in manufacturing, focusing on product quality and customer service metrics.

Reporting to the Technical Director, the primary duties are as follows: Your work will involve improving the process of producing high-quality goods efficiently, using the most cost-effective methods and with the aim of reducing the impact of production on the environment.

Manufacturing engineers are designers, as well as analytical and creative thinkers. This means you can operate on your own initiative but

The production engineer should be an analytical and creative thinker working independently and also contribute as a team member working with engineers from various disciplines. You will cover the shop floor and will be 1 st in line for technical point of contact.

Main Functions & Responsibilities

  • Maintain BOMs with costings, routings etc to a high standard so that MRP (SAP) can be effectively run.
  • Produce production processes and lead the design of tooling and fixtures.
  • Develop shop layout to introduce and grow lean strategies and improve process flow
  • Responsible for all Production shop floor documentation, procedures, work instructions, build manuals, user manuals and pre-install documentation for production.
  • Work with Supply Chain management on make/buy decisions
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  • Improve current operations wherever possible to enhance efficiency.
  • Plan and organise maintenance of equipment.
  • Investigate production problems.
  • Organise prototype builds for Development engineering within production feeding back all improvement ideas via ECR
