Salary £70,000 to £90,000 + Bonus + Car + Pension

My client is an aerospace engineering company with modern facilities in the North West which manufactures aero structure and aero engine components. The Technical Director will form part of the leadership team and really contribute to a new period of change management and have a real impact on the growth and development of the business. The role will report directly into the Chief Executive Officer, and have remit across the whole engineering department.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and executes the Engineering plans to deliver the business strategy
  • Support customer meetings and provide technical input as required
  • Champions a culture of delivering objectives via performance measurement
  • Drives improvement in profitability through continuous improvement and innovative thinking
  • Participates in all of the Leadership Team activities and represents its best interests at all times
  • Develops , reports and monitors the team's performance
  • Ensures the business is supported with robust systems and performance data
  • Develops and manages rigorous process practices and maintains a comprehensive and accurate database
  • Champions an open and honest, inclusive culture throughout the business
  • Develops the team's capability, managing and rewarding for success
  • Delegates responsibilities / authority levels within team
  • Plans for succession, creating a talent pool for the future
  • Ensures organisation structures and processes support business objectives
  • Provides strong functional leadership to the Engineering team, ensuring the right mix of competence and knowledge
  • Maintains excellent inter-department relationships and communication across the whole business to ensure the delivery of business objectives
  • Benchmarks and networks externally, keeping abreast of relevant developments in own specialist field
  • Acts as an ambassador for the company

THE PERSON

  • Educated to Degree level in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Demonstrable experience of 5 axis CNC machining environment
  • Working knowledge of Lean and from a six sigma background
  • Technical competence, eye for detail, analytical thinking, commercial awareness and customer facing
  • A proven track record in an engineering biased process improvement role
  • Excellent communicator with good organisation skills and be happy to travel on occasions. You must have the ability to put forward strong arguments and stand by your decision
  • A creative thinker with a 'can do' attitude
  • Extensive engineering experience with evidence of delivering proven and commercially successful innovations and delivering multiple projects.
