As a manufacturing leader you will manage and oversee the planning and manufacture of fabricated products within a multi-site facility based in the North West. You will have overall responsibility for the effective day to day management of projects / fabrication, supporting the development and growth of the business to shape and deliver the company's future growth and financial targets
Key Accountabilities:
- Plan, organise and direct the manufacturing and maintenance operations.
- Identify and report any errors or discrepancies with designs and drawings issued for manufacture.
- Achieve agreed on-going On Time, In Full (OTIF) order delivery targets, investigating and reporting all incidents which negatively affect the achievement of this.
- Initiate plans and processes which minimise manufacturing costs through effective utilisation of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials and capital.
- Lead Lean events within the facilities
- Establish and monitor key metrics for product fabrication times, investigating and reporting where deviations occur.
- Assist in gathering, analysing, and comparing data on actual and potential customers and competitors.
- Support the tendering process when required.
- Interface with IT services for administration of accounts.
- Any other ad hoc duties as may be required and as are commensurate with the grade of the post.
- Prepare and analyse statistics as required in contracts, personnel, materials, plant equipment and subcontracts in a methodical and systematic way and producing reports.
- Assure attainment of business objectives and production schedules while ensuring product standards that will exceed our customer's expectations.
- Improve manpower utilisation within existing departments and processes.
- Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes. Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas.
- Track competence of sub-ordinates and provide leadership and development as required to achieve objectives.
- Arrange and oversee training and development of employees to ensure manufacturing targets are achieved, and implementing appropriate company procedures to redress as necessary
- Ensure as necessary all Company procedures relating to time, attendance, performance and conduct are followed and adhered to, and appropriate action taken
- Provide advice, guidance and support to Managers and staff as required during site investigations.
- As a member of the Management Team, contribute to the identification and formulation of strategic objectives for the Company.
Essential Skills/Experience and Qualifications:
- Degree level qualified in relevant Manufacturing discipline
- Ideally knowledge or previous experience in lean \ 5s \ quality environment
- Previous manufacturing operational management experience in a steel fabrication environment
- Good IT skills with experience of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- A flexible attitude to work, able to keep calm under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Unionised Environment experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with all levels of employee
- Good presentation and written skills, able to present and explain statistical measurements and performance metrics
