HGV Mechanic

I am currently recruiting for several Motor Vehicle Mechanics for a temp to perm position in Southampton. Candidates will be working in repair workshop, providing a cost effective service to commercial vehicles, light vehicles, vans and HGVS Monday to Friday 3pm-11pm.

Main responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Repair and maintenance of a fleet of vehicles
• Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy
• Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems
• Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's specifications
• Diagnose faults and malfunctions
• Repair and maintenance of: electrical systems, alignments, steering and suspension, hydraulic systems, cooling and heating systems and drive train components
• Perform scheduled maintenance services
• Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts
• Road tests vehicles when required
• Keeps shop area neat and clean after each repair
• Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner
• Must be willing and able to work various shifts
• Must be willing and able to work overtime when required
• This is a temp to perm opportunity and the right candidate.

Essential requirements:

• Experience maintaining and repairing of a wide range of fleet vehicles
• Proficient in electrical, mechanical and hydraulic fault diagnosis.
• Mechanical or electrical qualifications
• A minimum of one year's commercial experience working as a Vehicle Technician
• Full driving licence with no drink-driving convictions within the past 5 years
• Experience of working on a wide range of cars and commercial vehicles
• English at communicative level

Preferred skills and experience:

• Welding
• Metal work
• HGV Class 1 License
