My client, a sub contract machine shop, is currently seeking to recruit a quality engineer to work within their quality department. You will be an experienced quality engineer, ideally with experience of all quality documentation including lifetime quality etc.

Essential Requirements:

Position Overview

This is a high compliance led Quality and Supporting Engineer role within the Operations Department supporting the Project Manager to implement new products, providing both production quality assurance and supporting project governance capability.

To fully understand and be able to flow down specific customer requirements and integrate detailed technical and production compliance requirements into a Helander works order pack.

To support the development, transfer and introduction of new processes into the Manufacturing Operations System

Essential Job Functions

  • Ability to read and interpret technical Engineering Drawings (GD&T)
  • To liaise with Quotes, Projects, Customer Services and Production teams
  • Apply Quality Tools and Techniques (APQP)
  • Produce robust documentation dossiers, quality plans etc.
  • Independent worker, ability to work alone and/or work within the supply chain

Requirements - Knowledge/Skill

  • Knowledge of NPI Project Management Processes
  • Knowledge of contract review and customer requirement flow down
  • Knowledge of subcontract welding and special processes
  • Excellent skills in quality assurance tools and techniques come make the APQP PPAP portfolio
  • Knowledge of Precision Engineering practice, tools and techniques
  • Knowledge of Special process (welding, coatings, treatments,. etc.)
  • Competency in supply chain flow down requirements and validation
  • Microsoft Office proficiency in Word, Excel, Projects and Power point
  • Competent internal system auditor would be an advantage

Requirements - Experience

  • Considerable proven Quality Engineering experience within a production environment
  • Evidence of significant and recent Nuclear, Automotive and/or Aerospace Industry experience to enable APQP requirements
  • Experience within a project team environment
  • Experience working with supply chain organizations
  • Experience in defining, managing and controlling quality records
  • Experience and knowledge of APQP methodology / tools and techniques

Requirements- Qualifications

Minimum HNC Mechanical/ Manufacturing or Production Engineering qualification

External Auditor Training

External APQP Training

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

Other Skills/Abilities

  • Great organizational skills
  • Planning, coordinating and logistical skills,
  • Use initiative and can work independently with minimum supervision, on own or part of a team
  • Attention to detail within a production and projects environment
  • Excellent communications skills - written reading and spoken
