IT Project Manager

Gloucester

My client is a major utility company who is in progress building a new nuclear power station in North Wales. Their new headquarters are currently being built in the Gloucester Business Park. They are looking for an IT Project Manager to oversee implementing IT infrastructure into new buildings to manage a range of infrastructure and IT security projects both internally and in cooperation and conjunction with IT Service Providers.

Principal Accountabilities:

Responsible for 'end to end' technical IT project delivery from initiation throughout analysis, technical delivery and implementation for each allocated project. To include;

  • Implement IT infrastructure into new buildings including HQ and Wylfa
  • Definition of scope with appropriate key stakeholder approvals.
  • Management of the development of 'To-Be' business processes and supporting requirements.
  • Management of project costs and appropriate budgetary approvals.
  • Responsible for the management of RAID including escalation of key risks and issues.
  • Management of the IT project specific delivery team including external resources.
  • Managing IT projects both independently and as dependencies within a wider IT program of work
  • Stakeholder management and communication (including regular project reporting and project board meetings).
  • Effective change management, considering both IT and Business change.
  • Production of documentation adhering to the IT projects methodology, quality standards and operational handover requirements.
  • Resolving complex social, commercial and technical problems to deliver to time, cost and quality.
  • Provide support to the operational business areas with implementation aspects.
  • Work with the business stakeholders to manage business impact and ensure that systems and solutions are adopted and embedded into the organisation, identifying training requirements where necessary.
  • Ensure that an effective handover to support occurs, including all operational processes and procedures and knowledge base articles.
  • Capture learning's for consideration with future project deliveries.
  • Effectively close the project.
  • Maintain appropriate professional relationships with key suppliers and advisory services and maintain knowledge of relevant emerging technologies.

Knowledge And Skills:

  • A track record of success and achievement demonstrated within relevant roles. Evidence of delivering work to deadlines and quality standards
  • Proven experience of leading or significant contributor to successful IT Technical Projects including experience of implementing IT infrastructure into new buildings
  • Expertise in project management methodologies, tools and techniques.
  • Experience of delivering infrastructure projects into an Operations team, including the development of operational acceptance procedures.
  • Broad knowledge of IT technology and IT Service Management.
  • Knowledge in resource management and change management practices.
  • Experience of managing resources within a project environment
  • Knowledge of IT Security Management principles would be beneficial
  • Experience of budget planning and financial management skills would be beneficial
  • Managing external service providers to deliver
  • Able to provide guidance and support to other members of the team.
